Several sites suitable for people to build their own homes on are being sold by a West Yorkshire local authority.

A total of 16 plots released by Kirklees Council have the capacity for between 2 and 10 new homes – and some of the sites could go for as little as £25,000. The majority of the sites are available with the benefit of outline planning consents, site assessments and legal paperwork.
The sites are:
- BATLEY
- Holland Street: outline planning permission for four homes
- Upper Road: outline planning permission for up to three homes
- Norfolk Street: outline planning application submitted for up to two homes
- BIRSTALL
- Church Lane: outline planning permission for up to two homes
- DEWSBURY
- Battye Street: outline planning permission for up to four homes
- Oastler Street, Westtown: outline planning application submitted for up to two homes
- North Road, Ravensthorpe: outline planning permission for up to three homes
- HECKMONDWIKE
- Upper George Opposite No. 32 Street: outline planning application submitted for three homes
- Brighton Street: outline planning application submitted for up to four homes
- HUDDERSFIELD AREA
- Manor Street, Newsome: outline planning consent for two homes
- Moss Street, Newsome: outline planning application submitted for up to two homes
- OTHER AREAS
- Cliffewood Rise, Clayton West: outline planning permission for up to four homes.
- North of Leak Hall Crescent, Denby Dale: outline planning permission for up to four homes
- South of Leak Hall Crescent, Denby Dale: outline planning permission for up to four homes
- Halifax Road, Hightown: outline planning permission for up to two homes
- Manchester Road, Slaithwaite: outline planning permission for up to two homes
The parcels of land are part of the ‘Small Sites’ scheme – which brings small plots of Council-owned land into residential use, with the aim of boosting the local economy. Two events promoting the scheme are to take place during November where council officers will be on hand to discuss specific sites, and explain more about the purchase.
