Lancaster development features custom build plots with more set aside for Durham venture
Custom build developer Plot has started work on a waterside development (pictured) incorporating two plots for new custom build homes in the heart of the Lancashire city.
The plots, at the disused canal wharf Aldcliffe Yard, will feature two new build terraced houses. An additional four homes will be created by refurbishing listed, stone canal buildings through a custom build approach and a further eight will be either standard new builds or refurbishments. Prices for the plots start at £140,000 and work is expected to be completed by July next year.
Plot’s second major scheme at Murton, near the city of Durham, is soon to come on stream too. Planning permission has just been granted for an attractive development of ten individual, architect-designed homes on a 1.2 acre site – all available for the custom build treatment.
Self build plots outlined for site in Lancashire village
A housing development in rural Lancashire could potentially feature a number of self build homes after proposals were given the green light by the local authority.
Wyre Council has granted outline planning permission for around 14 homes to be built on an ex-industrial brownfield site in the village of Singleton. This comes as figures recently published by the Homes and Communities Agency suggest that thousands of homes could be built on brownfield sites available for development – providing the potential for even more self/custom build dwellings.
It is understood that consultant Fox Planning is earmarking the site for self build plots potentially large enough to feature four-bedroom detached homes; however this depends on enough public interest. A full design specification is now being collated.
Over two-dozen self build plots designated for North East development
Twenty five self build plots are set to form part of a housing scheme in south-west County Durham.
Consultancy firm Prism has submitted plans on behalf of Apex Architectural Planning to Durham County Council for the plots which are to fall within a larger development of 38 new homes on a 13 ½ acre site between Hargill Road and Railway Street in the village of Howden-le-Wear.
Exact details of what sort of homes might feature on the plots have been reserved for later consideration; although it is understood that the proposed scale of the dwellings will be compatible with existing residential development to the north and east, which comprises a mix of single and two storey dwellings.
It is anticipated that a design code for the plots, to be situated on the south side of the site, will be agreed with the Council in due course and a public consultation is currently underway until tomorrow (14 November) to gain feedback from village residents.
Further self build homes planned for scheme in nearby Sedgefield
Plans have also been submitted for more than a dozen plots for self build homes on another site in nearby Sedgefield.
Investment firm ESRG Group is seeking outline planning permission for the allocation of 13 self build plots to be incorporated within a larger development of 218 homes on a site near Beacon Lane.
The proposals from ESRG, which gauged interest in the scheme via a public exhibition earlier in the year, were submitted in partnership with Gradon Architecture and Haylock Planning and Design and also include plans for a 53-bed retirement complex.
