Trathen Properties has submitted a planning application for 32 serviced plots on the council-owned land on Little Dock Lane in Plymouth, set to feature three to four-bedroom detached homes, with plot prices ranging from £40-50,000.

Self builders will need to adhere to a design code to ensure they use certain styles and materials as part of the build process.

Peter Carter from Trathen Properties said: “We’ve already received significant interest in these plots with 12 already reserved. Once planning is gained, we’re looking for work to start on site – remediating the ground and installing an access road – as early as March.”

In a statement made by Councillor Mark Lowry, Cabinet Member for Finance at Plymouth City Council, the decision to redevelop the site by providing self build plots “will provide the opportunity for individuals to build their own property at substantially less cost than they would pay if they bought a built property.”

This scheme follows the release of a number of other self build plots in the region by the Council in recent weeks.
