Self build plots earmarked for new Daventry development
Twenty-eight self build plots have been earmarked as part of a new housing development located on the northern edge of Daventry, Northamptonshire. As well as private and affordable housing, Landform Estates is proposing to offer self build plots at the 94-acre site at Mickle Well Park and believes there will be considerable interest. Landform’s Development Proposal suggests that work on the first five plots could start by December 2016 with the remaining by December 2020. A planning forum day is scheduled to take place on 26 July.
Nine custom build plots planned for Somerset site
Nine custom build plots are planned for a small site in West Somerset. Developer Inhabit Custom Build aims to gauge interest for 8-12 plots possibly featuring a mixture of houses and flats. The plots, on the Golden Hill site in Wiveliscombe, are likely to cost £50,000 each, with two options: the purchaser can buy a watertight shell to complete the internal fit-out themselves, or; Inhabit will deliver a finished home that can be moved straight into. The developer is currently gathering market demand, with the purchase of the site likely within the next few months.
Pair of eco-homes take shape in Cumbria
Construction has begun on two eco-homes in Witherslack, Cumbria. Both semi-detached properties (pictured, above) will be built to Passivhaus standard for £264,000. The land, originally part of the Witherslack Estate, was handed to the Witherslack Community Land Trust which transferred the freehold to the self builders. Two families worked with a local architect on suitable designs and it is hoped that both homes will be complete by the end of the year.
