Plans have been submitted for a cluster of custom build homes in south Oxfordshire.

{TEASER}

The proposals, prepared by Allen Construction Consultancy on behalf of the joint landowners, seek approval to deliver a scheme of seven detached homes on a two-acre former hospital site in Peppard Common, Henley-on-Thames. The dwellings – three to five-bedrooms in size – are likely to be completed by a developer, although there may be scope for people to self-finish the shells. Each energy-efficient home will be designed to maximise solar energy and will include a water butt, water-saving taps and a composting bin.

Typical finished properties of this kind usually cost £750,000-£1.5million locally and early indications suggest that land prices for this scheme will be in the region of £150,000-£250,000 per plot.

Future consultations are planned giving people the opportunity to view and comment on the proposals and to inform the consideration and decision process. It is hoped that, should planning be approved by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, work could start in site during spring 2016.

Joint landowner Paul Quinney said: “Indicative property prices are phenomenally high in this area. This scheme will provide many people a chance to get on the property ladder and customise a home for themselves in a location that might be beyond their reach financially.”
