A number of custom build units are planned as part of a larger residential element for a Bristol regeneration project.

The custom build homes will be included on part of a seven acre site (pictured) that is located between the Knowle West and Bedminster areas, on the southern side of Marksbury Road, between its junctions with Lynton Road and Timsbury Walk.
The overall project is being marketed by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). It hopes to secure bids from developers or housebuilders keen to take on the whole site; they are then expected to work with a specialist custom build developer or enabler to deliver the proposed custom build homes.
The overall development will also include a new primary school, health centre/pharmacy and business space. Around 85 homes are also proposed – with a minimum of 15 reserved for custom build. John Boutwood, HCA Area Manager for the South/South West of England, said: “We are hoping to shortlist some developers towards the end of this year. The intention is then to signpost the chosen developer to the National Self Build Association’s ‘Self/Custom Build Enabling Developer/Consultancy Database’, providing them the opportunity to partner with a custom build specialist.”
George Ferguson, Mayor of Bristol (pictured, top right), said: “Our planning officers and planning committee will obviously have to consider the details of the scheme as it develops and I expect there to be local involvement to produce an innovative form of community development to include a healthy mix of new homes and workplaces affordable to local people.”
