Self builders are being recruited to construct a home for themselves in the Dartmoor National Park.
{TEASER}
Parish councillor and experienced local self builder Reg Winsor is hoping to voluntarily train a team to build 39 semi-detached two-bedroom eco-friendly bungalows on two fields at Cummings Cross in Liverton (pictured).
The self builders will work up to 26 hours a week, including evenings and weekends, to deliver the homes on the land supplied by local farmers and will eventually be able to purchase them on completion for around £85,000 each. Each self builder must then live in the home for a minimum of three years. People skilled in drylining and electrical work have already shown interest and Mr Winsor aims to match this expertise with any novices that join the team.
Plans are to be submitted to Dartmoor National Park imminently and, once the green light is given, work to assemble the timber frame kit-homes will start on site towards the end of the year taking 12-18 months to complete.
