New custom build development to launch in Burton upon Trent
23 January 2017
The first development of its kind in the area, East Staffordshire Borough Council is launching its first custom and self build site at Lynwood Road, Branston Village, Burton upon Trent.
The site, which will be developed in three phases, comprises 25 plots – with the first phase of development of eight plots. Each of these will be available to buy with outline planning permission for a spacious three, four or five-bedroom detached home. To help with construction and development, a panel of industry professionals will be available to help purchasers design and build at Lynwood Road. This flexible approach means that prospective homeowners can opt to do as much or as little work on the project as they wish, with expert help on hand throughout. For this scheme, the council is offering fully serviced plots, starting from £85,000.
In conjunction with Custom Build Homes from BuildStore, the council is hosting an information event at Branston Golf and Country Club, 15.30-18.00, 31st January 2017, where visitors can find out more about this opportunity to build their own home in Branston Village and register an interest in one of the plots.
Councillor Patricia Ackroyd, Cabinet Member for East Staffordshire Borough Council, said: ‘We’re delighted to announce that we will be selling land for the provision of serviced building plots for self and custom built homes, on council owned land in Branston, Burton upon Trent. This is an exciting time for people in East Staffordshire Borough Council who wish to custom build their own home and we’re pleased to provide a real development opportunity in this new and growing sector.
‘The plots will be aimed at 3-5 bed properties with enough space for gardens, with well-connected streets allowing pedestrians and cyclists to easily move around. Subject to securing planning on the site, we aim to sell the plots later this year and we will be able to say more about this at the event we are holding in Branston at the end of January’.
Raymond Connor, CEO of Custom Build Homes from BuildStore, said: ‘Custom build is rising in popularity thanks to Government support and demand from the public, who want the opportunity to create better quality, better designed homes. The Branston development is just one of many creative projects that Custom Build Homes will be working on during 2017 and it’s great to see that East Staffordshire Borough Council is bringing forward its first site to meet its constituent’s demands. We will be working closely with the council and prospective homeowners throughout the process to ensure that the development is a resounding success.’
‘Custom building enables families to choose a particular plot and the design of the home they want to build on it. The purchasers of the 25 plots at Branston will benefit from expert financial advice from BuildStore, will get to work with leading names in the industry in terms of design and build, and will have the opportunity to live in a home that they have created to suit their own needs. We are delighted that East Staffordshire Borough Council has taken the steps towards making this type of homeownership available to the community and hope to see more of this type of development in the future.’
The launch event will take place on Tuesday 31st January at Branston Golf and Country Club, Burton Road, Branston, Burton upon Trent, DE14 3DP. To register to attend this event, visit www.buildstore.co.uk/branston
Doors open at 15.30, where visitors will have the opportunity to gather information on the development and meet some of the experts involved in the scheme. From 16.00 there will be an educational and informative presentation on how custom build works, as well as an opportunity to discuss the design and construction options.
