A scheme of ten custom build homes has been unveiled in north east England – with the aim of giving more people the opportunity to build their own property.

Custom build developer Plot is offering the serviced plots on a 1.2 acre site in Murton, County Durham. The 140-165m2 plots on the ‘Village Farm’ development are large enough to feature four to five-bedroom houses and are priced from £93,000 each with estimated building costs starting from £133,000. And buyers will be able to start work on their plots as soon as January 2016.

An open day is being held on Sunday 8th November to give the public a chance to explore the Murton scheme, allowing potential buyers to find out more about the custom build and financial procedures.

Plot is being assisted on the scheme by Custom Build Homes, who are part of the Buildstore Group that specialise in the self build sector.

Raymond Connor, Custom Build Homes chief executive, said: “We believe that custom build gives house hunters in the North East a real additional housing option and we are delighted to be working with Plot to provide essential support, guidance and advice to those embarking upon their homebuilding projects.”

The project is Plot’s second custom build housing scheme in the UK, with the first successfully launched at Aldcliffe Yard in Lancaster. Featured on current affairs programme, Panorama, earlier this year, the Lancaster project has already generated an estimated £3m for the construction industry.
