A stream of opportunities for people to customise their own homes is emerging at two locations in central England.

Plans have been submitted for a sustainable development (pictured) of ten zero-carbon custom build homes in the village of Eccleshall, Staffordshire. Developer Czero Home hopes to deliver a range of bungalows, semi-detached and larger detached homes on serviced plots – each costing around £150,000 – to the south of Green Lane. Consultations have already been held with local residents and it is hoped that work on site could start in the spring.

Simon Linford, Director at Czero, said: “With Eccleshall, we’d expect people to work with our detailed designs and tweak them as necessary. They will always have the opportunity of taking the plot and the design but doing something different.

“The more evidence and support that we have for these homes during the course of the planning application – the more likely it is to succeed first time.”

Czero has also been given the green light to undertake an additional scheme of 20 custom build homes at Lightmoor Village in Telford – a modern urban development being undertaken by the Bournville Village Trust in association with the Homes and Communities Agency.

The Lightmoor scheme – which already has outline planning permission – is likely to feature a large proportion of zero-carbon bungalows built on serviced plots. Plot prices are yet to be determined although it is understood that they could cost in the region of £60,000-£70,000 each, with work commencing in the New Year.
