{TEASER}
The ‘Self-build and custom build housing (England)’ briefing paper references recent landmark developments including the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015 which requires local planning authorities to establish local registers of people who wish to build their own home; and, the Right To Build under which an ongoing pilot of 11 local authority areas are maintaining such registers.
The measures to exempt self and custom builders from paying Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 charges are outlined in the report. Links pointing to many third party research papers on self and custom build are also contained.
