Keen would-be self builders in the Oxfordshire area are being urged to register their interest in one of the 1000+ plots that are up for grabs at Graven Hill, near Bicester.

Cherwell District Council has today unveiled a new website that explains more about the redevelopment of the former MoD site. And it is encouraging people who are interested in building a home to register their details and their preferences so that its master planning team can plan the layout of the huge site to match the spectrum of demand that is recorded.
The first artist’s impression has also been released (pictured), which shows how the new homes might be laid out around the distinctive hill that lies at the heart of the 600 hectare plot.
The project is the first large scale new self build scheme of its type in the UK and it is seen as a showcase for the self and custom build sector here.
Welcoming the launch of the project self build industry champion Kevin McCloud said: “Cherwell Council is setting an example here that other councils will surely follow. By pioneering this new approach to housing it will also boost its reputation and its international profile, which can only be good news and will encourage further inward investment.
“There are are up to 75,000 people in Oxfordshire who are already very keen to build a home for themselves. The site at Graven Hill will help them turn that dream into a reality. And I’m convinced it will quickly become a very desirable place to live.”
Bicester is very well located being just to the North of Oxford, so the new site could appeal to people as far away as London, as it is a relatively swift commute to the capital.
