  • Church Walk, in Stoke Newington, London – an entirely custom-built scheme.

Church Walk, a winner in Boris Johnson’s Housing Design Guide Award, consists of two houses and two apartments on a tiny former garage site in North East London. Architects David Mikhail and Annalie Riches bought the site at auction, designed their own home and three others, and project managed the whole development. The modern design has a stepped, terraced profile, allowing natural daylight to pour into interiors, with the homes naturally lit from above via large triangular rooflights.
